2024-2025 Walker County Board of Education LEA Parent and Family Involvement Plan

 

Walker County shall provide aid to parents in understanding topics such as:

--challenging state academic standards

--state and local academic standards

--information on how to monitor your child’s progress

--work with teachers to improve the achievement of your child

 

Walker County shall provide materials and training to help parents improve their children’s achievements to foster parental involvement: Examples:

-Dyslexia training

--How to use PowerSchools

--Interpreting Test Scores

--Technology training

--Literacy training

--new Pre K and K parent training

 

 

Walker County shall educate teachers, support personnel, principals, and other school leaders and staff on the following:

--the value and utility of contributions of parents

--how to reach out, communicate with, and work with parents as equal partners

--implement and coordinate parent programs

--build ties between parents and the schools

 

Walker County shall coordinate and integrate parent involvement programs and activities with other federal, state, and First Class Pre K programs, and conduct other activities, such as parent resource centers, that encourage and support parents to fully participate in the education of their children

 

Walker County shall ensure that information related to school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities sent to the parents is in a format, to the extent practicable, in a language parents can understand.

 

Walker County shall provide other reasonable support for parental involvement activities under this section as parents may request.
