Mrs. Teresa Woods

My name is Teresa Woods.  I currently teach our Transitional 1st/2nd grade unit.   When I was 8 years old, I had a fluid build up on the brain.  After surgery and weeks of lying in a coma, my parents were told even if I woke up, it was most likely I would suffer from brain damage and never be myself again.  I am forever grateful, God had a different plan for me; I awoke telling my family, "One day I will grow up and help God's children."  I have no doubt teaching is my calling.   After marrying my high school sweetheart and having two children, I returned to college to complete my degree.   I was blessed to be able to return to my alma mater, Oakman Elementary/Middle School, to begin my teaching career in 2005.  I am an advocate for children and a firm believer that ALL children can learn.  I love coming to work each day and watching as the children engage in multisensory lessons that help each of them reach his/her fullest potential.  When I'm not working with the children, my time is spent with family and friends.
