Day of the Dead

    or
    Day of the Dead

This is celebrated from November 31 - December 2 and it is becoming increasingly popular in the US, although it is celebrated in only a few Latin American countries. Students in Mrs. Fielding's Spanish I and II classes celebrated Dia de los Muertos.  They did some research about this holiday, made mini-posters, paper flowers and skulls made of sugar.  They decorated the last with feathers, glitter, pom poms and other doodads.  In Mexico the skulls are decorated with icing and then eaten.  Some students made papel picado, which involves cutting designs into colorful tissue paper. These were hung up in the hall.  Check out the sugar skulls in the photo to the right.
