Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Mona Tubbs
I am a proud member of the Oakman High School, class of 2009. I attended the University of Birmingham at Alabama, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. Recently, I graduated from the University of West Alabama with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Now, I am pursuing an Education Specialist degree in Elementary Education at the University of West Alabama.
For the past three years, I have taught the best grade of all, Kindergarten. This grade is where their foundation of learning comes alive, they start building an inquiring mind, and creating meaningful experiences that will last a lifetime.
Currently, this is my fourth year teaching at Oakman Middle School. My career started at Valley Jr. High as the Lead Head Start teacher. Then, I moved here to my home school, teaching 2nd grade math departmentalized. The last few years, I have taught Kindergarten, living in the world of curious minds ready to learn, and become successful leaders of our future. For three years, I sponsored the Oakman Middle School cheerleading squad with several accomplishments.
I am married to my childhood sweetheart, Brad. We have two children, Laethin and Letti Blair. Laethin plays football, basketball, and baseball. Letti Blair is waiting her turn to be old enough to play sports; meanwhile, she is busy being her brother’s biggest cheerleader. I have many hats I wear in life, but teacher and mom are my favorites. I enjoy being outdoors, sports, and making memories with my family.
