PRICIPLES OF TECHNOLGY

The philosophy of the Principles of Technology program is to prepare students for technical careers. The complexity and rapid change of modern technology require training that is applicable to more than a single job. Technicians must understand the mechanical, fluid, electrical and thermal principles on which modern equipment operates.

If technicians understand the principles on which their current work is based, they can apply those principles to new tasks as the need arises.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

1. Participate in activities that emphasize first-hand observation through laboratory investigations, practical problem solving, and the use of technology, with special attention given to scientific application of knowledge and processes to real world questions.

2. Complete the minimum requirements as outlined in the course task list.

3. Participate in VICA activities to assist them in developing the leadership skills needed to enter a technical workforce
PROGRAM STRENGTHS

1. The PT course has helped increase the number of students completing a Tech Prep diploma.

2. The PT lab is one of the best equipped in the state.

3. PT students consistently do well in all areas of VICA competition at the district, state and national levels.
