Registration Information for the Walker County Schools

Parents should register new students at the school their child will be attending as soon as possible. Upon registration, all students must have an Alabama Certificate of Immunization, an original birth certificate, a social security card, and transfer records.

A special registration for kindergarten is usually held during the spring at all elementary schools. Children who reach their fifth birthday by September 1 are eligible for kindergarten. For first grade, the student must be six on or before September 1. Specific school boundary questions should be directed to the School Board office:

Registration Information for the Walker County Head Start Program

Registration for the Walker County Head Start Program is held all year at the Head Start office located on Viking Drive.  A child should be 3 years of age on or before September 2.  Birth verification and proof of income are needed to register.  Please call the Head Start office at 205-387-0555 for Head Start classroom locations and for further information .
