Greetings from Sumiton Elementary/Jr. High School. We are a K-8th grade school located In Sumiton, Alabama. Sumiton is a small town (population, approximately 3,700) located In northwest Alabama In Walker County, approximately 20 miles outside Birmingham on Highway 78. Because of Its excellent reputation, students from the surrounding towns/communities also attend Sumiton, making it the largest single school in Walker County.
Sumiton competes In volleyball (girls), basketball (girls and boys), baseball (boys) and softball (girls). In addition the 7th and 8th grade boys compete In junior high football at Dora High School. The band program at Dora High also offers our 6th, 7th and 8th graders a chance to participate. A gifted education program is offered for those students that quality.
