“Touching the future one child at a time”

History of Lupton Jr. High

Lupton School is located in the Northwestern part of Walker County and has an estimated enrollment of 525 students in preschool through 8th grades. 59% of the students are from low income families. The community is very supportive of the school and plays an integral part of the success of the school. The Lupton PTO provides money for many projects and provided funding for the new gymnasium and the playground.

The present building was built in 1962 and combined the Old Lupton School with Prospect School. The school originally had grades 1-9. The closing of Thach , Redmill and Nauvoo Schools made it necessary to expand the school. There have been four additions. The school currently has 36 teachers including a counselor, reading coach, librarian, principal and assistant principal.

Lupton offers volleyball, basketball, softball, baseball and cheerleading. Students may also participate in a variety of programs such as K-Kids, Builders Club, Beta, Quiz bowl, and the Spelling Bee. We have a computer lab and classroom computers with Accelerated Reader, Easy Tech, Math and Sat-10 programs. The school uses research based methods to ensure a successful school climate. The family like atmosphere ensures that every student has the opportunity to be successful.

Lupton takes pride in the excellent academic reputation it has acquired. Lupton was SACs accredited in 2004. We were named a 2006 Banner School by CLAS.
