Principal's Corner

  Dianne Williams

Message from the Principal:

It is a privilege and honor to be the principal at Cordova Elementary. There is nothing like coming home to bring joy to the heart.  "Go Blue Devils!"  I look forward to working with teachers, parents, students, and the community. The staff, parents, and students are the reason Cordova Elementary School is successful in academics and leadership.  We have approximately 380 students in Headstart through Fourth grades.  We are very proud to have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) on all of the state assessments.  Traditionally our students score well on all state assessments; we attribute this to the high expectations set for our students by teachers, staff members, and parents. Cordova Elementary participates in both ARI (Alabama Reading Initiative) and AMSTI (Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative) programs.  This year, we have been chosen by Senator Greg Reed and his staff to participate in piloting a new and exciting program called WAY (Wellness, Academics, and You).  WAY is a program carefully designed to meet state standards in core subjects while providing health and wellness messages.  WAY states "learning about healthy choices is important because healthy children learn better, test better, and feel better about their lives."  WAY is sponsored by The Alabama Department of Education and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.

About Mrs. Williams

I am a product of Cordova Elementary and a proud graduate of Cordova High School.  In my 33 years in education, I have been a school secretary, bus driver, lunchroom worker, regular classroom history teacher, special education teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and principal.  My husband Bruce and I live in Cordova and have been married for 36 years.  We have one son, Corey, one daughter-in-law, Carrie Sandlin Williams, and one precious grandson, Conner (3).  Corey and Carrie are also graduates of Cordova and Conner can not wait to start school at Cordova Elementary.
