Cordova
Elementary School has been on the Superintendents
A or "B" Honor Roll for the past five years. Our faculty and staff are the best. We collaborate to find the best solutions for
the students and do our best to include students so
they can strive for excellence.
Cordova Elementary School is located on
North Street in Cordova overlooking the Bankhead
Middle School and Cordova
High School Campuses.
Our school, built in the 1950s, has expanded to
include a kindergarten wing and most recently, a new
gymnasium/auditorium as well as a new classroom wing. The
additional six classrooms have helped Cordova Elementary
achieve our goal of providing a more individualized
education through lowering the student-teacher ratio. CES
had help from parents and businesses as well as the
community when we built the pavilion beside the gymnasium.
We have a Partner in
Education program with Carl
Cannon Chevrolet. They
support many activities organized at our school.
We have Partnered with Cordova High School
in the implementation of a Peer Mentoring Program. Through
this program, peer mentors are matched with students who are
in need of remediation in Math and/or Reading.
The Cordova PTO is very involved in
helping our school.
They helped purchase new rugs for each classroom, desk for
each classroom and the CES sign outside. They also contributed
money for the purchase of an AED Defibrillator. We are very
fortunate to have such a fine group of parents helping our
school. Cordova Elementary became accredited by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (S.A.C.S.)
during the school year of 2002-2003. We will continue
to publish the school newspaper The Core. This is
written by Mrs. Harbison and Ms. Box and provides
information about what is happening at school. |
